Philanthropic Mission

Our philanthropic mission is to enhance the well-being of pets and the people who love them. Inspired by our love for animals, we strive to help pets and their families live longer, happier, healthier lives together. Specifically, we seek to educate people on responsible pet ownership, eliminating animal abuse and reducing the overpopulation of uncared for pets.

Guidelines

• We proactively partner with and provide food grants to a small number of respected, highly effective nonprofit organizations to achieve our philanthropic mission.
  
• In addition, we make a limited number of smaller food grants.
• We desire to partner with nonprofit organizations that demonstrate:
  
  

  A Caring Perspective: possessing a philosophy of love for animals and commitment to the human/animal bond, consistent with our mission.
  
  Overall Effectiveness: showing efficiency, integrity and success in achieving goals.
  
  Exemplary Outreach: demonstrating savvy use of all appropriate media, communications vehicles and partnerships to achieve maximum awareness and education.

• Proximity to our places of business (e.g., Tennessee, but also Tampa and our major markets) or the participation of our associates or business partners also weigh positively.
• If it has been at least one full year since your last application, you are welcome to apply again.
  

How to Apply

• We welcome requests from any nonprofit organization offering programs aligned with our philanthropic mission (active 501(c)3 status required).
• We hope you will understand that exemplary, qualified applicants far exceed our capacity to give, and we unfortunately must turn down many worthy proposals.
• Out of respect for your time, we suggest sending a brief email letter of inquiry (healthypets@halopets.com) prior to submitting a full proposal. Letters should include:
  
  

  Organization name, address, contact name/title, and web site address

  Brief summary of the program for which funds or food will be used

  Brief information about outreach, marketing and educational activities (how you plan to maximize awareness of the Adopt a Shelter Pet / 1 Million Meals program)

  Any appropriate affiliations (e.g., Freekibble.com, Humane Society Shelter Network, etc.)

• Send letters of inquiry to healthypets@halopets.com
• If we are able to explore supporting your organization, we will contact you within 3 months.
• We apologize, but we are unable to reply personally to organizations we are unable to fund.

Opportunities for Groups We Have Supported

• Please write in with your success stories! We’d love to tell our blog, Facebook, Twitter and email newsletter subscribers about how Halo helped make a difference.
• Plus, if you have any special stories, events or innovative programs, let us know. We might be able to help spread the word.
  

For Groups We Have Been Unable to Support (but still seeking Halo food)

• We know it may be of little consolation, but if it's at all useful, we do have a Shelter Program in place for 501c3 organizations to be able to purchase our products at a discounted rate. To order in bulk ($250 minimum), please contact healthypets@halopets.com.
